Breath 2.35

  1. The two images juxtaposed in this photo seem rather well chosen - the trees showing against the black of the two figures' torsos are evocative of bronchi, that the natural trees are bare and transposed into the place of the lungs on what are clearly city dwellers seems to make an effective comment on the tension between nature and the built environment. There seems to be an invitation to read urban life as imposing an artificial 'winter' upon man's natural rhythms, although the fact that the two figures can be seen to be wearing winter clothes tells against such a reading of lack of concession to nature. The image seems to relate well to your concept of city-wilderness: the concept and the images could be said to be 'bilingual' yet not incompatible.
